IDEA Complaint Decision 08-063

On July 3, 2008, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) received a complaint under state and federal special education law from XXXX against the Watertown Unified School District. This is the department’s decision regarding that complaint. The issue is whether the district, during the 2009-2010 school year, properly changed the student’s schedule by eliminating a general education choir class.

The issue is whether the district, during the 2009-2010 school year, properly implemented the student’s individualized education program (IEP) regarding two general education classes and properly responded to the parent’s request for an aide.

IDEA Complaint Decision 05-048

On November 7, 2005, the Department of Public Instruction received a complaint under state and federal special education law from XXXXX against the Watertown Unified School District. This is the department's decision regarding that complaint. The issue is whether the district, during the 2004-2005 school year, provided services to the extent necessary to enable an expelled student to appropriately progress in the general curriculum and appropriately advance toward achieving the goals set out in the student's individualized education program (IEP).

IDEA Complaint Decision 01-028

On March 19, 2001, the Department of Public Instruction received a complaint under state and federal special education law from XXXXX against the Watertown School District. The issue in this investigation is whether the district, during the 2000-2001 school year, failed to implement provisions of the childs individualized education program (IEP) requiring preferential seating, shortened assignments and extra time to complete assignments. This is the departments decision for that complaint.
